Who we are
Tokio Marine Hong Kong (TMHK) was established in 1953, emerging from the roots of Japan’s first non-life insurance company founded in 1879, the establishment of which Eiichi Shibusawa (regarded as the father of Japanese Capitalism) was deeply involved in. Upon Japan’s ratification of the Treaty of San Francisco, we resumed marine underwriting here in Hong Kong, forging our local operation to have the longest continuous history for Tokio Marine group’s global business.
Now we run our operations across many countries and regions and are continuously expanding its top class business globally. We are the one of the world’s most globally diversified and financially secure insurance conglomerates.TMHK celebrated its 70 year anniversary in 2023. We provide our services to many Japanese corporate customers and local SME & Corporate customers.

Employees/Staff are our greatest asset. Local management has been working to enhance internal communications, provide staff skill updates/training and avoid silos between the departments through many activities such as our regular Town Hall exchanges.
Our group purpose is “To protect customers and society in times of need” unchanged since our founding. This purpose consists of 3 pillars, “Look beyond profit”, “Empower our people” and “Deliver our commitments”.
We now have five values of TMHK’s action policy to realize and fulfill our purpose. These are “Honesty”, “Fairness”, “Strong Passion”, “Professional” and “Respect each other”. In addition to supporting our customers’ risk management, we have continued to implement about 10 individual programs of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and approximately 200 service activities since 2005 in order to strengthen our community. This is a part of how we can contribute to local society. We have been honored with the “Caring company 15 years Plus” title recognition by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service in 2022.
